Christina Aguilera’s Inspirational Role

Not shy about showing a little skin, Christina Aguilera was happy to get naked for the big screen in order to land an inspirational role.

The “Not Myself Tonight” singer says that her recent character portrayal of a lovely lass named Ali in “Burlesque” is just what she has been wanting to do careerwise.

“This boils down to it being the right time and place,” she said. “I was waiting for the right script to come along and the right idea to really inspire me and this was it.”

Aguilera knew it was the perfect part for her, telling, “The character and the idea and the story involved really spoke to me.”

She also revealed that her abusive childhood helped her play the part, explaining, “The girl I play, Ali, has a rough past-her mother dies when she’s very young and she’s been in foster homes,” she said earlier this month. I could relate to that pain, growing up in an abusive household. That gave me great motivation to provoke my tears for those scenes where I had to really pour it on. I felt it deeply, to go through a lot of those things that brought up a lot of painful memories.”
